Catherine (née Paterson) McRae

Born: November 15, 1950
Died: April 30, 2014

The youngest of three children, Cathy (née Paterson) McRae was a top synchronized swimmer as a teenager in Winnipeg. In 1966, she claimed the Manitoba junior championship in solo synchronized swimming. (She came third in the senior competition at the same meet.)

ImageIn 1967, the young athlete narrowly missed out on winning the Knight Trophy for advanced solo in Manitoba synchronized competition to Beverly Birt.

She later owned a Vancouver travel agency and earned a psychology degree from the University of British Columbia followed by a master’s specializing in addiction from Antioch University New England of Keene, N.H.
