Leonard James Poore

Born: August 1, 1946 (Fredericton, New Brunswick)
Died: April 8, 2014 (Douglas Harbour, New Brunswick)

Jimmy Poore had a long career playing junior and senior hockey in his native New Brunswick. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound left-winger skated for the Fredericton Junior Red Wings for two seasons before dressing for the Fredericton Capitals, Fredericton Millionaires, Fredericton Chevies, Fredericton Bird-Neill, Fredericton Bird-Stairs and Fredericton Sutherlands.

ImagePoore made his senior hockey debut as an 18-year-old in 1964-65 with the St. Andrews (N.B.) Senators, scoring four goals and adding two assists in a five-game tryout.

The forward also played a single season (1969-70) with the Saint John Mooseheads, scoring 15 goals in 24 games.

He was usually among the Top 10 in scoring in the New Brunswick Senior Hockey League in the late 1960s and early ’70s.

After working for Moosehead Breweries for a quarter-century, Poore became a sales manager for Port Royal Distillers.
