Raymond White
Born: (Point Edward, Nova Scotia)
Died: May 21, 2014 (Sydney, Nova Scotia)


As a young man, Ray White played fastball with the junior-A team in his hometown of Point Edward, N.S. The team won consecutive Maritime softball championships in 1966 and 1967. The team was inducted into the Cape Breton Sports Hall of Fame at Sydney, N.S., in 2002.

White spent 27 years in the Canadian Forces, including service as a peacekeeper in Egypt. He was a member of the Cape Breton Naval Veterans Association and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 126, in Westmount, N.S. He died at Cape Breton Regional Hospital on May 21, 2014. He leaves his wife, Elva (née Rudderham); a daughter; two sons; three grandchildren; two brothers; and, two sisters.
