Danny Lefebvre, a race-car driver from Quebec, died after his mini-stock car crashed into a concrete barrier during a race at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Lefebvre, a resident of Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague, was pronounced dead in hospital in Ottawa, where he had been flown by helicopter after the crash. He was 23.
Lefebvre was a well-known figure at the Ontario track, where he had been a contender in the mini-stock division standings last year.
The accident is being investigated by the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ontario labour ministry, according to the Cornwall Standard-Freeholder.
The race was red flagged after the incident and the racing card cancelled for the night.
