Frank Ingold was a schoolboy athlete in his hometown of Niagara Falls, Ont., who won a regional championship in football in 1944 and in basketball in 1944-45.
Niagara Falls then defeated a team from Peterborough Collegiate Vocational Institute by 26-5 on a frozen field on the back campus near Hart House at the University of Toronto. The victory gave the Niagara Falls team the Central Ontario Secondary School Association crown.
The school’s basketball team also won the COSSA crown a few months later early in 1945.
Later, Ingold coached minor hockey and baseball teams.
His high school teams were inducted into the Niagara Falls (Ont.) Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and 2012.
He worked as a regional sales representative for Schneider Foods for 35 years.
